You can reach this beach using a boat from Larantuka the capital city of East Flores to Waiwerang harbor in Adonara island, around 1 hour and 45 minutes. And from Waiwerang to Watotena beach, you have to take at least 30 minutes.
Watotena means a rock boat. Some parts of the coast are separated by black rock formations which are sharp, and the rocks appear to a beautiful formation. Some say it might be magma rock from the Ile Boleng volcanic eruption hundreds of years ago. But there are certain rock parts that according to local residents are actually ships that were stranded and petrified. Also the small rocks around it are believed to be the sinks of the petrified crew.
